Frequently asked questions

Data and import

Which data do I need?

Start with hourly consumption, ideally a full year or more. CSV and Excel files need time and value columns. Check monthly totals and missing days before calculating.

Why will my file not import?

Check the time and value columns under Advanced: column overrides. For CSV files, check the separator and try saving as UTF-8.

Tibber and Elhub

Can Tibber fetch older history?

Tibber only provides data from your time as a customer. Import older history from Elhub. If a token fails, copy it again in full and check that your Tibber account has a home linked to it.

Does Ravolva need my BankID for Elhub?

No. Sign in to Elhub Min Side yourself with BankID. The download snippet runs in your browser. Upload the monthly files together; no Elhub data is sent to Ravolva until you upload.

Solar panels and battery

Is net production the same as total solar production?

No. Net production is electricity exported to the grid. Total solar production comes from the inverter, before your own use. Net consumption is electricity bought from the grid. Import these as separate series.

Do I need a battery?

A battery is optional. Compare storing surplus solar with price-aware operation; the latter needs spot price history. Size, losses and cost affect the result, so a battery is not automatically profitable.

Prices, grid tariff and support

Is the tariff lookup guaranteed to match my bill?

No. Check the selected grid company and price settings against your current tariff. If lookup fails, enter the tariff yourself in step 2. Apply changed price settings before comparing results.

What if spot prices are missing?

Missing spot hours are estimated from nearby hours. With no spot history, cost charts are incomplete. A fixed price is an alternative, but cannot be used for hourly price scheduling.

Do support schemes remove grid charges?

No. In step 6, compare strømstøtte or Norgespris. They change the effective energy price, not the grid tariff, and can change which measure ranks first. Check current scheme terms before deciding.

Optimisation and economics

Does optimal kWp mean the most profitable system?

Are savings and the P10–P90 range guaranteed?

No. Results depend on your data, weather, prices and cost assumptions. The range shows modelled variation, not a promise. Compare supplier quotes; savings of separately ranked measures cannot simply be added together.

Account, projects and privacy

Do I need an account to try Ravolva?

No. Try the example project or continue without an account. Guest access depends on your browser session. Once that session ends, you cannot reopen the project. Sign in or register before then to move it to your account.

How do I manage projects or delete my data?

Sign in on the front page to reopen, rename or archive projects. Archiving is not deletion. You can delete your account from the front page; its associated projects are permanently removed. See the privacy policy for data use and your rights.
